American Goes North and South for Regional Jets
American Airlines has ordered 30 new regional jets for its subsidiary airlines, comprised half each of Bombardier CRJ900s and Embraer E175s.
Both the Bombardiers, which recently underwent a cabin redesign, and the Embraers will be configured with 76 total seats, 12 in first class.
The CRJ900s will be operated by Ohio-based American Airlines subsidiary PSA Airlines. The contract for the 15 Canadian jets is thought to be worth just more than $700 million. American expects to take delivery of the first aircraft in second quarter 2019.
The E175 will be operated by Envoy Air, another subsidiary based in Texas. The Embraer contract is for $705 million, and the Brazilian aircraft will be delivered between March and November 2019.
